Inclusivity Statement

Serpentine is committed to being an inclusive organisation, which attracts diverse talent and where our people feel safe and can flourish. We aim to produce a vibrant programme that attracts diverse audiences and support a range of emerging and established artists.

We are also committed to developing, embracing and maintaining a framework of inclusivity, which is designed to support and align with our mission to build new connections between artists and audiences, and deepening our awareness and understanding of inclusivity in order to ensure it is at the heart of everything we do.

What we are doing

Our people

  • Attracting, retaining and developing diverse talent that is representative of the society that we serve and initiating inclusive development pathways, such as apprenticeships, in order to engage and support individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • Recognising that welcoming a variety of experiences and perspectives is an asset to our organisation, and that a culture of inclusion promotes a sense of belonging and wellbeing that will allow our people to thrive and succeed
  • Listening and engaging with our people through a dedicated organisation-wide inclusion working group and related initiatives
  • Ensuring inclusivity is at the forefront of our thinking when reviewing or introducing any new process, project, policy or event
  • Fostering a regular drumbeat of internal communications, training and celebration events

Our Programmes and Audiences

  • Continuing to attract wide ranging audiences through our production of inclusive and accessible programmes and spaces
  • Supporting both emerging and established artists at pivotal stages of their career and identifying strategies for connecting with artists from a diverse range of backgrounds
  • Considering how we are reflecting, and can better reflect, contemporary London in our programmes
